One Piece Chapter 1067 dropped on November 20, 2022, and it was as interesting as they come.
The chapter reveals that Dr. Vegapunk has eaten the Brain-Brain fruit that makes him a Brain Man. This reveal has many people saying that the smartest man in the One Piece world is a fraud!
Before coming to any conclusions, let’s take a clearer look at what his devil fruit does.
By the way, if you were wondering why Dr. Vegapunk was stumbling over his words while revealing his fruit’s name, it is because, in Japanese, his fruit is called the Nomi-Nomi No mi. So his tongue got tied trying to pronounce his tongue twister of a fruit!
The Brain-Brain fruit
According to Dr. Vegapunk, his devil fruit helps him store unlimited amounts of knowledge by physically growing his brain to accommodate the amount of data it holds. So basically, his devil fruit makes him a hard drive with unlimited storage capacity.
But the reason he is called a genius is not because of his devil fruit. While his devil fruit certainly helps, it is his own intellect that makes him the smartest person in the world.
Saying Vegapunk is not a genius is like saying Law is not a doctor because of his Op-Op Fruit. While Law’s devil fruit certainly helps him, he is a doctor because of his own skills. The same goes for Vegapunk.

Is Vegapunk the next Strawhat?
At the end of chapter 1067, Vegapunk asks Luffy to take him out of Egghead island. While I don’t think he’ll become a nakama, it’s likely that he will travel with the Strawhats in the Thousand Sunny.
The way this arc has set up plot points regarding the giants, our next destination is most likely going to be Elbaf. So it is possible that Vegapunk travels with the Strawhats to Elbaf.
And with Kuma acting up in the last panels of the chapter, it looks like the Revolutionary Army is going to make its move soon. We know Vegapunk and Dragon share similar goals, so Vegapunk is bound to become vital going forward.
Also, One Piece is on break this week, so the One Piece Chapter 1068 release date is on December 4, 2022.
