Especially once you start looking at the price, this figure by Kotobukiya has a couple of things to help it stand out. Anya gets a bonus face, and the base adds a nice touch.
But the devil is in the details, and considering the size of the figure, that’s going to be the dealbreaker.
Every spy must master the art of misdirection!
Despite the official title of this figure, you’re getting three face plates for Anya. One is her usual happy face seen in the top picture.
The second is Anya with her mouth closed, while the bonus face has Anya with her eyes closed, blushing, and her mouth open. All three expressions have excellent detail and are sure to please any Anya fan.
Anya is wearing her casual clothes, and the base looks like part of a street. The figure stands at 7.7 inches and is made from PVC and ABS.
The pre-order ends on January 27, 2023, and is expected to ship in September 2023. Most sites are pricing the pre-order at $149.99.
Is it worth it?
Some people compare this figure with the one SEGA just finished a pre-order. And it’s easy to see why at a glance.
Anya doesn’t come with extra faces, Bond’s pose is different, the base is different, and the price is $28.99. But SEGA’s is 5.7 inches, and Anya’s mouth is a pink circle.
But Anya is wearing her Eden Acadamy uniform, and it looks gorgeous! So I chose the SEGA because of the uniform.
I think they did a great job, and I’m looking forward to seeing it once it ships in April 2023. But if the Kotobukiya figure came out with an Eden version of the pre-order figure.
I’d have to hide my wallet. But, on the other hand, figure collecting is a wonderful hobby. There are plenty of figures that won’t break your budget.
But choosing a more expensive version every once in a while isn’t bad if Kotobukiya makes their figures like SEGA. Then you can expect it to have a decent weight, and the parts won’t break easily.
Now the question is, what will they do once the movie and Spy x Family Season 2 start?
